Hi everyone!
Here’s my new blog. I’m a blogger now! I’ve been a journalist for many years but turning a web-journalist has been a big challenge. Today I must say that technology and I are even, ’cause I was able to put together this blog.
Even more, hand in hand with my tutors, I’m learning the advantages of RSS, of what I’m talking today. I get to my office at sunrise, literally, I start at 7 am, and my first window to the world is get into IGoogle to get the updated news. In my mail I get information from Washington Post, NY Times, my newspaper, El Universal, even the US Homeland Security Report. In 10 minutes I can catch up with news and start taking dessitions about how should we activate our site.
That is even faster than if I had the real newspapers in my desk. ¿Is it as useful to you as it is for me?
Hi, Martha. When I red your profile I felt such a identification, ’cause I worked as a print journalist for more than 25 years. Since last july I’m working as content manager in the web site of La Nacion, a traditional argentine newspaper, and turning a web journalist is a big and amazing challenge for me. From that moment I’ve been training every day to get neccesary skills as quickly I can, but I’m feeling very enthusiastic about digital media.
RSS was one of the first tool I got and I realized how many time I can save with it. I start at 8.30 a.m. and first of all I get local information from argentine papers (La Nacion included of course), then I pass to El Pais and El Mundo, from Spain, and finally take a glance at NYT, Washington Post… Normally, I need 45 minutos to catch up with main news but it’s not too much if we think how many time we needed in the past to get all these informations.
Absolutely RSS is useful and powerfull
